National Independent Party Chairman Ravi Lamichhane, who is in custody in the Rupandehi District Jail in the cooperative fraud case, was sent to Kathmandu on a Buddha Air flight at 4:30 pm on Saturday. He was taken from Rupandehi District Jail to Gautam Buddha Airport in Bhairahawa amid tight security.

Lamichhane was in Block No. 4 of Rupandehi Jail since March 25 in the Supreme Cooperative fraud case in Butwal. Lamichhane filed a petition in the Rupandehi District Court on June 14, demanding prison transfer. The court gave permission on May 16. After 79 days, on Friday, the prison management department decided to transfer.

When Lamichhane was taken from the prison to the airport, RSVP General Minister Kavindra Burlakoti responded that even though the court had given permission to move the prison, even though the government delayed it, it was possible now due to all-round pressure. 

After the transfer of Lamichhane, there was a crowd of activists in front of Bhairahawa prison on Saturday afternoon.
