After 12 years at Wembley, it resonated again

What you should know

The songs of Nepali band Nepathya are once again resonating at the famous Wembley Arena in Britain. Nepathya gave a magnificent performance to 10,000 spectators on Saturday evening. Nepathya also performed at Wembley 12 years ago.

At the concert on Saturday, the band started their performance with  Koshiko Paani' and performed 18 songs. Long before Nepathya was founded, singer Amrit Gurung composed this song while living in Yangjakot, Kaski. Puskal Gurung, a childhood friend who lives in the village, is also a witness to the composition of this song. When Amrit was singing this song in London on Saturday, Puskal was also present in the audience.

'I never imagined that this song prepared by Amrit while playing the guitar in front of him in the village, even after 35 years, would enthrall the audience in front of me at such a grand ceremony in London,' Puskal said, 'History has been made at Wembley on Saturday. I am blessed to be a witness of that history.'

singer Amrit not only presented songs in the concert, but also narrated his experience of song compilation, inspired to awaken Nepali language and culture, expressed the glory of the country and called for connecting the young people abroad with the country.

"Seeing the people who love Nepali songs and Nepali language, from children to old people, came to see that Nepathya's efforts for 35 years have been rewarded," said singer Gurung, "It is a great history to have so many participants in Wembley, the love for Nepali songs and music has created this opportunity, it has given me the energy to keep singing songs and keep working hard."

Gurung said that he took the presence of more viewers in foreign programs than in Kathmandu as a respect for Nepali songs and music. "It seems that the audience from different countries of Europe have come to the concert because of the songs based on the folklore of Nepathya and carrying the scent of Nepalese soil," he said.

In every presentation, 'Once More' kept coming from the audience. In previous concerts, Nepathya used to reject 'Once More' from the audience. It is a tradition for the band to leave the stage after performing the final performance 'Rato Aar Chandra Surje'. However, this time, Nepathya could not refuse the audience's 'one more'. But at Wembley on Saturday, the band played 'Himal Chuchure' as an additional performance, honoring the audience's request. Audiences from far beyond the city of London came to see the

concert. Among them was Wilco, who came with his family from the Netherlands. In the recently published biography of Nepathya, there is a mention of medical physicist Wilko. Wilco is one of those who suggest proper advice on throat treatment after singer Amrit's voice dries up. After a concert at Wembley 12 years ago, the two old friends were moved by the sight of each other when Amrit gave a heartbreaking expression backstage that his throat had stopped supporting him.

'But this time it was amazing,' was Wilco's reaction after watching the concert on Saturday, 'I was so happy to see Amrit jumping and dancing on the stage with the same old energy.' On the

stage, Amrit was supported by Dhruv Lama on the drumset, Suvin Shakya on the bass guitar, Neeraj Gurung on the guitar, Shanti Rayamazhi on the Madal and Dineshraj Regmi on the keyboard.

Nepalaya manager Kiran Krishna Shrestha said that Nepathya's performance at Wembley set another standard. "The plan to bring Nepathya to the world-famous Wembley was successful as a milestone 12 years ago," said Shrestha, "Today, Nepathya has not only broken the old standard from this hall, but perhaps for the first time in the history of Nepali music, we have succeeded in gathering so many audiences inside a closed hall." are "Today's evening has become unforgettable for the 10,000 spectators who watched the show," said Dipendra Lama of the organizing team. During that time, Nepathya will be presented in Copenhagen, the capital of Denmark, on August 23. The tour will then conclude with an appearance in Attard, Malta on the 27th, Lisbon, Portugal on the 31st, and an appearance in Anthropen, Belgium on September 3. Nepathya said that the upcoming concert will be held in Belgium, France, Netherlands, Italy, Austria and other countries.
