The Narayangarh-Mugling road section, which was upgraded to two lanes seven years ago, has become more dangerous during rains. The risk of accidents has increased on this section of the road after the problem of sometimes dry landslides and sometimes falling stones.
The most dangerous part of this road section starts after crossing the Rigdi River after crossing a distance of 26 km from Narayangadh . This is the place where the road was washed away on the night of October 11. Engineer Krishna Acharya, information officer of Bharatpur's divisional road office, said that half of the 90-meter-long road was washed away at that time.
After about eight kilometers from here, the Tuin river bridge comes. There is a problem of stones falling on the Narayangadh side of this bridge when it rains. On Sunday too, after light rain in this area, stones started falling . And the Division Road Office issued a notice and appealed to travel with caution. With the cutting of the mountain to make the bridge, since the last four years, sometimes big landslides and sometimes small stones have not stopped in this place.
Not only when it is raining, but also when it is not raining, there are problems in this road section. Like, a dry landslide fell here on June 3. And the road was blocked. Acharya, the information officer of the Divisional Road Office, told the past that the road was blocked for more than 24 hours continuously due to a landslide in this place two years ago. According to the District Police Office, Chitwan, an Indian car was damaged by a stone falling at this place on Sunday, July 4, and three Indian passengers were injured .
Information Officer Acharya said that in order to reduce the damage, the Division Road Office brought an excavator from Hetaunda on June 12 and dropped the stuck big stones safely. He said, 'When there is heavy rain, landslides happen and when there is little rain, stones fall .'
Engineer Arjun Ghimire of the Division Road Office said that he worked that day by bringing a 'long boom' excavator that can remove stones up to 16 meters. He said, 'We closed the road that day and removed the big stones that were at risk of falling on the road . We dropped stones up to 16 meters . But up to 40/50 meters, stones are still stuck.' He said that a permanent solution should be found in this place and said that he has also put this matter in the department.
Despite widening, there are frequent problems on Narayangadh-Mugling road section . In the vicinity of the Tuin River, there is a need to be careful that stones are not about to fall from above, while in the vicinity of the Rigdi River, there is an obligation to reduce the speed of the vehicle .
Information officer Acharya said that such a problem could be at least eight to ten months along the Tuin river and the problem along the Rigdi river would last for the next year. Said, 'Earlier only one car used to pass. We have made it passable for a small vehicle and a large vehicle since the end of June by filling with mud and gravel.'
