Home Minister Ramesh Ukhar has said that within the next five years, every citizen will receive advance warning of risks. Speaking at the National Workshop on Early Warning for Everyone on Thursday, he said, 'By 2030, every citizen of Nepal will be ensured of receiving early warning of risks.'
He said that one-third of the population in Nepal is out of the forecast of natural and climatic risks. ' The United States has announced in 2022 that one-third of people should receive information by 2027,' he said, 'We are now making a roadmap for that.'
He said that advance notice made it easier for the security agencies to work. 'In the place where we were able to give advance notice, there was no loss of life despite the heavy rain,' he said, ' In the place where we could not give advance notice, there was loss of life even when there was comparatively less rain.'
He said that due to the lack of advance information about the flood in Rasuwa, people's wealth was lost. He said that even though Kanchanpur had the heaviest rain in 77 years last year, there was no loss of life due to advance warning.
