37-year-old Khil Bahadur Bhujel of Sindhuli, who used to sweat all day in the construction of roads and bridges, cannot walk without the help of a cane.

Bhujel, who has been making a living by carrying stones, gravel and sand, came to the case branch of the Human Trafficking Investigation Bureau on Thursday with a complaint that he had been lured and had his kidney removed.

'The person who took me to India because of easy work in the hotel took out my kidney,' said Bhujel, 'he said he would give me 6 lakhs. Fearing that they will have to bear all the expenses incurred so far, 5 people, including me, had their kidneys removed at an undisclosed clinic in Chandigarh. After the kidney was removed, he did not give me the money even though he offered me money when he returned to Nepal. According to him, his kidney was removed on July 9.

Bureau spokesperson and information officer, Superintendent of Police Narendra Kunwar, said that an organized gang was involved in this action and accordingly the investigation was conducted by the office. "In the preliminary investigation, it has been revealed that he was kept in India for various tasks including health examination and was sent back to Nepal after having his kidney removed," he said. The next day, he went to a clinic for a medical check-up and the kidney was removed.' Kunwar said that the court extended the deadline by 7 days and started the investigation.

He said that the search for other absconding defendants of the organized group is continuing and the work to identify other victims has also been started based on the information that the kidneys of dozens of people from different districts were illegally sold. It is mentioned in the complaint that Samir Nepali and Rakesh Nepali took the victim Bhujel to the apartment and took care of them. Rajkumar Periyar and Samir Nepali, who brought five people including him to Nepal after their kidneys were removed, Bhujel has given a statement to the police. They left Kathmandu in an electric vehicle (EV). He also said that he went to India on the advice of a friend who worked with him.

9 people including me were taken in Sunauli's car to work in a hotel in India towards the end of our senior years. When I returned, there were 5 of my friends who were injured like me,' he said, 'I did not know anything about what was done to me in India, how the kidney was removed.'

police investigation revealed that the gang involved in the business was living in Nepal and India, selling kidneys in an organized manner, taking advantage of the poor economic status of the victims to identify people, transporting them, conducting medical checks and making all necessary arrangements in India to extract the kidneys.

In the last 4 financial years alone, 1 thousand 45 cases have been registered in Nepal under the crime of human trafficking and trafficking of selling human organs like kidneys against the law.
