The Armed Police Force (APF) has installed a disaster notification system at two locations in Chitwan and Dhading.
In collaboration with Luna GPS Company, the armed forces have installed an electric device 'Internet of Things' (IOT) that provides early warning of disasters in Simaltal located in Bharatpur Metropolitan City-29 of Chitwan and Benighat Rorang Rural Municipality-7 Charaundi of Dhading. Its operation and control has been arranged by the Armed Police Force, Nepal Disaster Management Training School, Kurintar. In case of an accident or disaster in this area, it has been installed so that even the general public can give information and the siren will be sounded in the school immediately from this device.
DSP Shailendra Thapa, Assistant Spokesperson of the Armed Police, said that with the connection of the device, it will help in the search, rescue and control of disaster incidents including accidents. 'In case of any incident or accident, the local residents in that place and anyone who has information about the incident should press the green button on the device for 10 seconds. After pressing the button, the siren in the Armed Police Force, Nepal Disaster Management Training School in Kurintar will sound,' he said, 'After that, the security forces are immediately mobilized for search and rescue after the location information is received on the monitor in the school.'
He said that the training school Kurintar informed the local residents of the places where the devices were installed and how to use them.
Similarly, arrangements have been made for local residents from Narayanghat to Nagadhunga and those who have witnessed the disaster in that area and who have witnessed the accident, can download the Luna GPS app on their mobile phones and inform them about the incident. When you click on the SOS button in the app, you will see the four options of ambulance, flood-earthquake, fire and accident, what kind of incident it is, and when you click on it, you will get information about the person who informed you about the disaster management training school in Kurintar. The app can be downloaded and informed offline.
From Narayanghat to Nagadhunga, road accidents, floods and landslides have been causing loss of life every year. Lack of sufficient trained manpower and resources and systematic infrastructure in such incidents is seen as the root cause of the incident.
