The Federation of Nepalese Tribal Tribes (NEFIN) is going to celebrate the 31st World Tribal Day on a week-long basis.
Gelje Lama Sherpa, president of Nefin, informed that the week-long day is going to be celebrated with the basic slogan of 'ensure the rights of indigenous peoples over natural resources, water, land and forest, implement the directives of the Supreme Court regarding UNDRIP and ILO 169'.
In a press conference held in Kathmandu on Sunday, he said that a week-long program will be organized from July 24 to 28.

"In Nepal, we have taken this as an opportunity to establish our ethnic, linguistic, cultural and religious identity, to ensure fundamental knowledge, skills and protection and promotion of our indigenous people, rights over land and natural resources", President Sherpa said, "This is being celebrated as an opportunity to advocate the issue nationally or internationally, including giving meaningful and respectful participation in every body of the state based on the principle of proportional inclusion."
Nefin General Secretary Diwas Rai said that the main program will be organized on July 24th at the National Assembly House and there will be a display of cultural tableaus, dances and food dishes reflecting the identity of the tribal tribes.
