32 cartons of foreign cigarettes were seized at the Tribhuvan International Airport customs office while they were about to be loaded onto the ship.

According to the airport customs office, the airport customs office seized a large amount of goods without declaring and passing inspection. Chief Customs Administrator Dilip Kumar Gautam confirmed that the cargo was seized on Tuesday evening without declaring the export. "In whose settings the goods were brought to the door of the ship after passing the customs and security gates," he said.

Some of the cigarettes are from Canada, according to the related staff . Customs officials have said that they will also investigate how the foreign cigarettes entered Nepal and why they tried to send them abroad through Nepal. Foreign cigarettes are being illegally imported into Nepal through the open border.

'If there is collusion or negligence in the export of such goods under the supervision of police, customs staff, customs agents, they will be investigated,' said Mahesh Bhattarai, director general of the customs department.

The goods were seized while they were being placed on the trolley to be loaded onto the ship.

A 5-member investigation committee has been formed to investigate the incident under the leadership of the Deputy Secretary of Bibansthal Customs Office. According to the preliminary investigation, 32 cartons were packed with goods from Canada and Nepal including cigarettes, sweets, and meat and were tried to be loaded on the ship without declaring it at customs. The carton containing cigarettes was seized by customs after reaching the place of loading on the ship to take it to London, America and Australia.

"Rather than which goods were found, we have taken seriously the matter of how any goods reached the airplane without passing the customs check or without the customs knowing," Director General Bhattarai said, "that is why we have formed an investigation committee."
