The Education, Health and Information Technology Committee of the House of Representatives has formed a sub-committee to discuss the Media Council Bill.

The House of Representatives sent the Media Council Bill to the Education, Health and Information Technology Committee for quarterly discussion. The committee has formed a seven-member sub-committee for weekly discussions.

Friday's meeting of the Education, Health and Information Technology Committee formed a sub-committee to discuss the media council bill on a quarterly basis under the coordination of UML MP Deepa Sharma.

subcommittee members include Prabhu Hazara, Liladevi Limbu, Gyanu Basnet Subedi, Dr. They are Tosima Karki, Vinita Kumari Singh and Mahendra Kumar Rai. Committee Secretary Dasharath Dhamala informed that the committee has been mandated to submit the report to the committee within 15 days of starting the work.

The preamble was discussed at Friday's meeting before sending the bill to a subcommittee . In the bill  Minister of Communication, Information and Technology Prithvi Subba Gurung clearly stated that the government does not envisage press freedom from the bottom up. He promised that there will be no interference on the part of the government on the rights given in the bill.
