The proposal to discuss the study report on the upgrading of Nepal from a least developed country to a developing country, 2081, has been unanimously approved by the National Assembly.

Kamala Pant, chairperson of the Development, Economic Affairs and Good Governance Committee, presented the proposal in today's meeting of the National Assembly. The committee made a report on June 5 and submitted it to the House. Presenting the

proposal, Chairperson Pant said that it will increase international trade, but there will also be various challenges in Nepal due to upgrading. She also gave the information mentioned in detail in the report about profit and loss.

Among the three conditions for upgrading, she informed that although the human assets and economic and environmental risk index have been fulfilled, the index of per capita income has not yet been fulfilled.

He also said that after the upgrade, there will be an impact on the concessions that Nepal is getting in various sectors, travel concessions will be reduced and two percent interest will be charged on loans given by the World Bank. For this, he said, an action plan should be made and implemented till November 2026.

Members Urmila Aryal, Indira Devi Gautam, Madan Kumari Shah (Garima), Pooja Chaudhary, Shekhar Kumar Singh, Dr. Anjan Shakya, Gopal Bhattarai, Gangakumari Belvase, Kiran Shrestha, Tulsakumari Dahal, Gopi Bahadur Sarki Achami, Krishna Prasad Paudel, Rukmini Koirala, Bhuvan Bahadur Sunar, Narayanadatta Mishra, Padam Bahadur Periyar, Bishnu Bahadur Vishwakarma, Vishnu Kumari Sapkota, Krishna Prasad Adhikari and Sumitra Bisi gave their views on the proposal.

He questioned the government's preparation regarding the reduction in development aid due to upgradation, the effect on the export of carpets and other materials from Nepal to foreign countries. In the

meeting, Chairman Narayan Prasad Dahal read the letter sent from the office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers.
