It is wrong to think that only a person who owns Lal Purja is the owner of land: MP Shrestha

”In the DPR of those who take more land than the limit, there is no need to look at how many jobs should be created, and there is no need to look at the environmental impact, and water will not come to Madhesh just by going around in a helicopter saying that there has been a drought.”

It is wrong to think that only a person who owns Lal Purja is the owner of land: MP Shrestha

What you should know

National Independent Party MP Sumana Shrestha has said that the idea that only a person who owns Lalpurja is the owner of land should be abandoned. She said that environmental assessment and DPR should be made mandatory for holding more land than the limit.

In Monday's meeting of the Agriculture, Cooperative and Natural Resources Committee of the House of Representatives, MP Shrestha, who participated in the discussion on the Land Bill, said that the issue of land ownership is not only related to Lalpurja.

MP Shrestha said that the provision of environmental assessment and DPR has been changed in the currently implemented land law to hold more land than the limit . The way we used to interpret the land before and the way we interpret it now has changed a lot. If we don't accept that changed situation, there will be no other electoral agenda except that we will distribute red money in the election again. Theoretically let's go through the use of land . If the land is not attached to the secure housing, the tenancy is not secure . It is very wrong to think that only a person who owns Lal Purja is the owner of the land,' she said.

MP Shrestha also said that there should be a legal arrangement for those who use more land than the limit and what service they provide to the society . She said, "In this bill, EIA should have been done and DPR should have been shown to those who have more land than the limit". There is no need to see how many jobs should be created in the DPR, no need to see the environmental impact, and water will not come to Madhesh just by going around in a helicopter saying that there is a drought. It is the problem of Madhes now because of exploitation of that chure . So even now EIA and DPR should be mandatory.'

She said that the government should also look at the citizens who are alienated from the education, health and other services provided by the state. She said that through the land bill, the government is going to look only at those who have property worth billions in the city.
