Nagarik Unmukti Party (Naupa) president Ranjita Shrestha has given Shiv Bastola the task of acting president of the party. Shrestha gave Bastola, who is a senior leader of the party, as the chairman citing health condition as the reason.

She has said that she is unable to be fully active in party activities due to ill health. "In this dire situation, according to clause (9) of Article 20 of our Civil Liberties Party's Constitution 2078, you have hereby designated Shiv Bastola, a senior leader of this party, to take over the responsibility of the acting president of the party in my absence," she said in the letter.

She has said that this responsibility will continue until her health improves or there is another arrangement.

On Friday, the majority central members gave President Shrestha a 24-hour ultimatum to call a meeting of the central committee. On Friday, 12 members of the central committee of Naupa had given an ultimatum to party president Shrestha Chaudhary to call a meeting of the central committee according to subsection 6 of section 41 of the constitution. Ranjita Shrestha Choudhary is the president of Civil Immunity and there are 20 other central members .
