Maoist MP Janardan Sharma has drawn the government's attention to the fact that desertification is increasing due to drinking water projects that have been stalled for decades in Madhesh. MP Sharma said this while speaking at the meeting of the House of Representatives on Friday.
He has demanded the government to immediately manage the supply of drinking water, irrigation and fertilizer to the people of Madhesh. MP Sharma has said that the Madhesh people should also pay the electricity tariff for running the boreholes.
He said, "The water supply projects started in Madhesh for about three decades are incomplete. Due to the fact that they are not completed, there has been a water crisis. This crisis has arisen today due to the destruction of Chure. Scientists say that if this happens after a few years, it will be a desert. Farmers can't even bring water, irrigation and fertilizer? Fertilizer should be allowed to be brought from the border.
He said that the destruction of the Chure area will increase and it will become a desert in a few years and the government should be serious about Chure protection.
