After the flood in Bhotekoshi swept away Miteri bridge at Rasuwagadhi crossing, 203 Nepalis who were stranded on the Chinese side were brought to Nepal through Tatopani crossing of Sindhupalchok on Wednesday. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China brought them to Tatopani Miteri Bridge via Kerung and handed them over to the Sindhupalchok administration.

The stranded Nepalis, including those who went for work and drivers, were kept in Kerung after the flood. Chief District Officer of Rasuwa Arjun Paudel says that they were brought by Chinese security personnel in 20 vehicles from Kerung to Tatopani checkpoint. Bahrbise Municipality, Bhotekoshi Rural Municipality and Arani Transport have jointly taken the responsibility of feeding them and transporting them to Kathmandu.

After the flood in Bhotekoshi on June 24, China rescued 72 Nepalese including container drivers and took them to Kerung. According to Prazia Paudel, it was China that gave them facilities such as food and lodging before handing them over to Nepal. On the day of the flood, some of the drivers climbed onto the roof of the container and saved their lives.

Minister of Home Affairs Ramesh Akhtar directed the Nepali Consulate in Lhasa, Tibet to coordinate to bring those stranded in Kerung to Nepal. Lhasa-based Consul Lakshmi Niraula has been coordinating with the Chinese authorities. At the request of Nepal government, it was agreed to bring them to Tatopani border. According to the agreement, a representative of the Foreign Affairs Department in Nyalam, Tibet, led them to bring hot water, said Chief District Officer of Sindhupalchok, Kiran Thapa.
