UML standing committee member Khagraj Adhikari has expressed the opinion that former president Bidya Devi Bhandari should not return to party politics. Speaking at a seminar organized by UML Kaski on Wednesday on the occasion of the 47th Pushpalal Memorial Day, he said that even if he wants to do party politics, a person who has become president should remain respected.

"You may wish, but the former president should still be honored in a place that has become a symbol of the republic. We should be given guardianship,' he said.  He said that renewal of membership is a technical matter and returning to politics for a person who has become the president is in line with the constitution and the republic.

When the party central committee discussed this issue, he insisted that the ex-president was in favor of not returning to party politics except for 2/3. "Membership is a technical matter that can be renewed or not," said the leader officer, "What is the main political issue, what is the effect of the constitution, what does the constitution say, what is the symbolic of the republic was discussed extensively (in the central committee). We said that except for 2/3 of the people who spoke, everyone should remain in the same position as the former president.

He said that the party president KP Oli had ruled not to insult or provoke the former president. He said that the time has not come to find an alternative to Oli in the party. Also, he claimed that Oli's leadership in UML is necessary to carry forward the current communist movement in Nepal properly.
