On Wednesday, 203 Nepalis who were stranded in the Lhende River, a tributary of Bhotekoshi, were brought to Nepal through the Tatopani Pass of Sindhupalchok after the Miteri Bridge at Rasuwa Pass was washed away.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China brought them from Kerung to Tatopani Miteri Bridge and handed them over to the Sindhupalchok administration in the afternoon. After the flood, the Nepali people who went for employment, including drivers, were kept in Kerung. Chief District Officer of Rasuwa Arjun Paudel informed that they were brought from Kerung to Tatopani in 20 vehicles with Chinese security personnel.
Bahrabise municipality, Bhotekoshi village council and Arani transport have arranged for them to eat and transport to Kathmandu.
On the night of the Bhotekoshi flood on the night of last 24, China rescued 72 container drivers and Nepali people who were on the Tibetan side of Miteri bridge in Rasuwa and took them to Kerung. Prazia Poudel of Rasuwa gave the information that they have been provided with facilities such as food and shelter.
They are also going to be brought from Tatopani crossing. On the day of the flood, some of the drivers climbed onto the roof of the container and saved their lives.
Minister of Home Affairs, Ramesh Akhtar, directed the Nepali Consulate in Lhasa, Tibet to coordinate to bring those who are stuck in Kerung to Nepal. After continuous efforts at home, Lhasa-based consul Lakshmi Niraula was coordinating with the Chinese authorities for a few days. At the request of Nepal government, it was agreed to bring them to Tatopani border. According to the agreement, the representative of the Foreign Affairs Department in Nyalam, Tibet, is going to bring hot water to them, informed the Chief District Officer of Sindhupalchok Kiran Thapa.
There is a program to hand over the Nepalis brought by the Nyalam Administration of Tibet to the local administration team including Prajia Thapa of Sindhupalchok as representatives of the Nepalese government.
Miteri bridge to reach Nepal from Kerung through Rasuwa pass has been completely washed away and there is also difficulty in traffic operation towards Nepal. Sindhupalchok Industry and Commerce Association, Nepal Himal Cross Border Commerce Association, Nepal Truck Container Transport Service Pvt Ltd had been requesting the government to rescue their employees and workers stuck in Kerung.
