A 285-member International Youth Day Main Ceremony Committee has been formed under the chairmanship of Youth and Sports Minister Tejulal Chaudhary. Every year on 12th August, Youth Day is celebrated worldwide.
The committee was formed under the leadership of Minister Choudhary, who is also the chairman of the council, at the meeting of multilateral stakeholders held in Sanothimi on Tuesday under the organization of the National Youth Council. The executive vice president of the council, Surendra Basnet, secretaries of eight different ministries, Nepal Army, Armed Police Force, Nepal Police, member secretary of National Sports Council, executive director of Youth Self-Employment Fund, chief commissioner of Nepal Scout, vice president of provincial youth council will be members of the committee.
Similarly, representatives of Nepal Journalist Federation, Nepal Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Federation of Non-Governmental Organizations Nepal, Hisan, Pabson, NPavson and others are also present in the committee. Representatives of United Nations agencies in Nepal will also be in the committee.
Vice President Basnet said that it has been decided to have representatives of various youth and student union organizations, representatives of council affiliated youth networks, representatives of council affiliated organizations, and representatives of various national and international non-governmental organizations. A 17-member secretariat has also been formed under the coordination of Basnet, the executive vice president of the
council. He said that a committee has been formed to celebrate the International Youth Day on July 27 with a week-long program.
The newly formed committee meeting has also called on everyone to celebrate the day by Nepalizing the main slogan put forward by the United Nations for the year 2025, 'Sustainable development and the essence of a golden future: the participation of local youth is the basis of prosperity'.
year 2000 Since August 12 of every year has been celebrated as International Youth Day. The 54th General Assembly of the United Nations, held on December 17, 1999, announced that August 12 will be celebrated as the International Youth Day, according to the recommendation of the conference of ministers dealing with youth issues in different countries of the world. Along with the announcement, there is a trend of celebrating the International Youth Day with various programs including youth awakening, rights and empowerment.
Every year in Nepal, organizations including the National Youth Council celebrate Youth Day with various programs.
