Birgunj Metropolitan City-19 Vindavasini located on the banks of the Tilawe river, the fence constructed for the protection of public land and promotion of greenery has been vandalized. Of the 80 poles buried by the metropolis recently, 34 poles were brought down by an unknown group.
The team led by Metropolitan Environment Inspector Prakash Air found the vandalism during the on-site inspection.
In the last month of June, 80 pole vehicles were cordoned off in preparation for tree plantation on the public land covering an area of about 7 bighas. Earlier, some people had encroached some parts of that area illegally and were using it for private purposes. Navraj Phuyal, Press Adviser of Rajeshman Singh, Head of Birgunj Metropolitan Municipality, said that it is suspected that the siege may have been vandalized due to the connivance of that person.
Due to the planned disruption of the tree planting campaign started by the metropolis for the protection of public property and environmental improvement, Fuyal said, quoting Singh, that the metropolis has completed the necessary procedures and filed a complaint with the local administration to bring the people involved in such criminal activities to justice.
The metropolis prepared to develop a green area by planting trees in accordance with the long-term plan on the public land on the banks of the Tilawe River. Fuyal said that such acts against the public interest are not acceptable under any circumstances. He said that after the incident, the metropolis started preparing to strictly implement protective measures including a permanent surveillance system.
