Former President Bidya Devi Bhandari has reiterated that her membership in UML has been renewed. Bhandari gave a brief response to mediapersons after her meeting with UML President and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli at UML headquarters Chasal on Sunday and said that renewal of membership is a thing of the past.

Former President Bhandari and UML President Oli had a conversation for almost two hours. Bhandari claimed that she only talked about national politics with Oli on Sunday. She said, 'I only talked to him about national politics. Talked about current problems and situations. Other topics are known through official channels  .'

Recently, when UML leaders were claiming that Bhandari's membership renewal was 'pending', Bhandari said, 'That is an old thing  . Party membership has already been renewed.'

After the Secretariat meeting on Saturday, UML Propaganda Department Head Rajendra Gautam claimed that the renewal of former President Bhandari's membership is pending. Mentioning that articles 8 and 9 of the party constitution have been drawn on the issue of renewal of membership, he said that there will be further discussion on this. "The former president's membership renewal is pending," he said, "it has been decided to discuss it further." The argument of the establishment side is that membership cannot be renewed if the membership is abandoned after the election of the president. They said that the organization department should decide to get new members. Bhandari side said that the old membership has been renewed.
