Rajesh Jha (Ahiraj), the former head of Madhesh province, has been arrested. Spokesperson and SP Apilraj Bohra of Kathmandu Police Complex informed that Ahiraj was arrested on Sunday for the crime of sexual abuse.

According to him, a 5-day deadline has been taken from the Kathmandu District Court for the investigation of Ahiraj.

Jha was appointed as the provincial head of Madhesh on February 7, 2077.

Before he became the chief of Madhesh province, he was involved in the publishing of the Madheshwani weekly newspaper and other communication enterprises. 

When the controversy of the then CPN was at its peak, the then Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli's government dismissed the then state chief Tilak Periyar and appointed Jha as the state chief of Madhesh. Less than 6 months into his tenure, Jha was dismissed from office by the government led by Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba.
