An appeal petition has been filed by the Attorney General's Office in the Supreme Court against former Minister Aftab Alam, who was found guilty by the district court but was acquitted by the High Court on the charge of burning people alive in a brick kiln.
According to the spokesperson of the Supreme Court, Achyut Kuinkel, the appeal will be registered on Sunday.
Former minister and Congress leader Mohammad Aftab Alam, who was accused of the bomb blast in Rautahat on 27 Chait 2064, the night before the first Constituent Assembly election, and four people who were accused of murdering the injured by putting them alive in a brick kiln, were acquitted by the Virganj bench of Janakpur High Court on 14th May.
The Rautahat District Court judged Alam to have committed the murder and sentenced four people including him to life imprisonment.
