UML has put forward a proposal to reduce the number of office bearers including the senior vice president. In Thursday's secretariat meeting, Vice President Bishnu Paudel proposed to reduce the number of officials.

Paudel has been entrusted with the preparation of the Legislative Drafting Committee. UML has said that it will hold a legislative session in August.

UML's first legislative session held in Lalitpur's Godavari has added the post of senior vice president to its office bearers. Currently Ishwar Pokharel is the senior vice president in UML. Similarly, UML has 6 vice presidents.

An official who participated in the meeting said that it was proposed to reduce the current number of three deputy secretaries to one. There are currently 19 officials in UML. If the current proposal is passed, there will be only 11 officials in UML. The proposal will be further discussed in the Politburo meeting on Friday and the Central Committee meeting on Monday.
