Water supply minister Pradeep Yadav has announced the work and achievements in the water supply sector in one year.

In the physical infrastructure progress announced by Minister Yadav, who took charge of the ministry on June 31 last year, under the Melamchi project, water diversion work from Riberma river has been successfully completed and drinking water has been supplied to Kathmandu valley throughout the year.

• Under the Melamchi project, the water diversion work from Riverma river has been successfully completed and water supply in Kathmandu valley throughout the year.
• In the financial year 2081.82, the resource agreement equal to 12 billion rupees was obtained, at the end of the financial year, the capital expenditure of the projects under the Water and Sewerage Management Department reached 86%.
• Urlabari Major Co-investment Project (Morang), Beldangi Water Supply Project (Jhapa), Dabar Toll, Nainpur Toll Water Project (Sirha), Besishahr Co-investment Water Project (Lamjung), Chautara Water Quality Project (Sindhupalchok), Chitwan Bhandara Second Water Project (Chitwan), Nangedanda Comprehensive Pumping Water Project (Sindhuli), Salkot Comprehensive Water Project (Surkhet), Sri A total of 86 water supply projects including Antu Samalbung Water Supply Project (Ilam), Brihat Shakti Water Supply Project (Hetouda) have been completed and put into operation.
• Public procurement process has been started in 5 packages for expansion of Melamchi water outside the ring road of Kathmandu Valley.
• Under the Integrated Water and Sewerage Management Project in Jhapa, Birganj, Pokhara, Bharatpur, Hetauda, Dharan, Butwal, Imadol, Lamkichuha and other cities, the construction of infrastructure expansion has started.
• Construction of drinking water tanks of 60 million and 80 million liters capacity completed in Kirtipur and Mahankalchaur respectively.
• Resumption of construction of sewage treatment centers in Sallaghari, Kodku, Dhobighat.
• Mandatory operation of chlorination unit for water purification through new projects and drinking water consumer organizations across the country.
• Sisneri water supply project detailed study has been completed and consultant selection is in the final stage.
• Construction of Bheri Pumping Project in Karnali Province started (after contract agreement, forest land approval and tree felling permission).
• Deep boring construction has been completed in more than 250 places so far to immediately solve the drinking water problem in Bara, Parsa and other districts due to climate change, more deep boring construction is underway.
• In order to solve the long-term problem of water supply in Birgunj Metropolitan Municipality, a comprehensive water supply plan is being implemented with the loan support of ADB at a cost of Rs 4.5 billion.
• Feasibility study of Rapti river water diversion project has been started for long-term management of increasing water crisis and drought in Terai-Madhesh.
• In order to ensure long-term and reliable drinking water service in Madhesh province, in partnership with the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, the long-term infrastructure development of drinking water supply in 6 districts of Terai - Sarlahi, Rautahat, Mahottari, Dhanusha, Bara and Parsa - through the Sunkoshi-Marin Diversion Multipurpose Project has been initiated.
