The parliamentary committee has expressed concern over the delay in the completion of the construction of the federal parliament building under construction in Singha Durbar.

The Joint Committee of the Federal Parliament, the Implementation Monitoring and Evaluation Committee of the Director Principles, Policies and Responsibilities of the Federal Parliament, has also written a letter to the Ministry of Urban Development to discuss the current progress and future action plans of the under-construction Parliament Building at Singhdarbar. In the meeting of the

committee on Wednesday, after the construction work of the Parliament building was delayed again, it was decided to write a letter to the Ministry of Urban Development on July 11 to attend the discussion with the action plan for the next day.  In the

meeting, the parliamentarians demanded to call the government for a discussion with the progress of the construction of the parliament building and the upcoming schedule.

Committee chairman Thakur Gayre expressed his dissatisfaction that the work could not be completed on time despite frequent monitoring and correspondence of the under-construction parliament building. Gayre also informed that the committee has received an extension to complete the construction work of the Parliament building by December 16.

Why was this parliament building that we have repeatedly monitored and corresponded with the Ministry of Urban Development not built on time? We drew the attention of the ministry to ensure that the parliament building will be built within the extended deadline," Chairman Gayre said, "Accordingly, our committee received a letter extending the deadline to complete the construction of the parliament building by the 16th of December. We discussed those letters today too. We have written to the Ministry of Urban Development to attend the meeting on July 11 with the basis that the construction of the Parliament building can be completed within this time frame and its action plan. The

committee has also passed the on-site monitoring visit report of Karnali Province. Earlier, the committee had prepared a report after studying the situation of education, health, drinking water etc. in Dailekh, Kalikot, Jumla and Mugu of Karnali province.

Chairman Gayre informed that the on-site study report will be sent to the relevant ministries along with the office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers for implementation.
