Former Election Commission Commissioner Ila Sharma passed away. According to a family source, Sharma, who was admitted to Norvik Hospital in Thapathali after chest pain, died during treatment at 7 pm on Saturday.

According to his brother-in-law Suyog Regmi, he was taken to Narvik Hospital after he complained of chest pain during a conversation at Kupandol at around 5:30. Regmi said that the doctor declared him dead at 7 pm.    

The body will be kept in the hospital today. According to a family member, after the arrival of the eldest daughter from India tomorrow Sunday, the funeral process of Sharma will be started.  

Ila held the position of commissioner in the constitutional body Election Commission from 2069 to 075.

Although Sharma was born in Dhanusha, she grew up in Banaras. Ila was also involved in teaching and journalism.
