Last Monday around 9 pm, a drone fell inside the no-fly zone of the Parliament building. The police found the drone only the next morning. It has been revealed that the drone found on the south side roof of the parliament building in New Baneshwar, Kathmandu-31 belongs to the nearby Techspire College.
According to District Police Complex Information Officer SP Appelraj Bohra, the drone was made and flown by students for experimental purposes. They are pursuing graduation in information technology.
In the police investigation, it seems that they bought the equipment needed to build the drone from Himalayan Solutions in the last week of June. "During the thrust test of the drone assembled in the college itself and in the trial phase, it came to the parliament building area when the GPS signal was lost and became uncontrolled," said Bohra, "The work is being done to bring other people related to the incident to this office and understand them."
The police are investigating the course coordinator Professor Vijaybabu Regmi along with the students Saman Maharjan, Sujalkaji Shrestha, Samip Khatiwada and Aftab Reza. The investigation of the police so far has not found that drones were flown for purposes other than educational purposes.
According to SP Bohra, the police has already written to the authority and the local administration to investigate under the Nepal Civil Aviation Authority Act-2053. The college also sent a letter to the police informing them that the incident had taken place inadvertently.
On Wednesday, Congress MP Ramhari Khatiwada spoke about the drone falling in the Federal Parliament building premises, where did the drone come from? Why did you come? He was also interested in that. MP Khatiwada said that the matter is serious when various information is being collected from drones and terrorist activities are also taking place internationally.
