Foreign Minister Arju Rana Deuba has returned home on Friday after participating in the 44th session of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the high-level ministerial conference held in Rome, Italy.
Minister Rana also addressed the main session of the FAO conference held from June 28 to July 4 as well as other high-level meetings and programs held during it. In the
speech, she informed that Nepal has provided the right to food as a fundamental right of citizens and other laws have provided the basis for its implementation and realization.
Then, during her visit to Germany, Minister Rana had a bilateral meeting with German Foreign Minister Johann David Wedfull. In the meeting held in Berlin last Tuesday, she emphasized on the need to encourage and promote the network between the private sectors of both countries for the further promotion of bilateral trade between Nepal and Germany, and asked for Germany's investment in fields including chemical fertilizer production factories in Nepal.
In addition to proposing direct air flights between Nepal and Germany, she also said that Nepal expects resources, technology and financial support from Germany, the European Union and other partners after Nepal is upgraded from a least developed country in 2026. Minister Rana also requested Germany, an influential member state of the EU, to play a role in removing the ban on Nepali airlines as Nepal has already started drafting laws according to EU and ICAO standards.
Minister Rana also participated in the program organized by Investment Board Nepal in Italy and Germany to promote investment in Nepal. He Foreign Secretary Amrit Bahadur Rai was welcomed by high officials at Tribhuvan International Airport this morning.
