When you think of school, a scene dances in the mind of many people - the noise of students who are making noise and playing, sometimes singing poems and songs in a melodious voice, and sometimes reciting lessons. But in a school in Naxal, Kathmandu, the students are calm. This school is the Central Deaf Mavi, which was opened to give the light of education to the voiceless.

The school is quiet but the 380 students studying here are very happy at the moment. The reason is the success brought by 28 students who have studied here recently by getting 'graded' in the SEE exam. They share that happiness with each other through signs. Their learning style and understanding of sign language is different, but the vision of the future is clear, the vision of understanding life is clear. This year again 23 students are preparing for SEE exam. They also have many wishes, desires and dreams. On the way to achieving their goals, their steps are walking in a simple line.

Renew Shrestha, studying in class 10, turned 18 years old. Renew, who was born in Chitwan, had good hearing in his childhood. But slowly his hearing was failing. In the dialogue conducted through signal, he told about his life journey from childhood till now. He says that it was very uncomfortable to interact with family and friends in the first days after hearing loss. The journey of learning started from class 3 through the signal of

renew. He said that he has a good knowledge of computers and has decided to study IT and work in the country in the future. Saying that he is able to do every job if he is taught in sign language, Renew says in sign language, "I don't know if I can't read because I can't hear." I also have the same ability as hearing students. I am confident that I can compete with or even better the students with hearing ability.

Kushal Karki from Sindhupalchok also studies in class 10. He started studying here from class 9. He studied at Sindhu Bahira School in Sindhupalchowk till class 8 and came to Kathmandu to get secondary education. 15-year-old Kushal says he is working hard to get the best result in SEE. He says, 'I think the future should be good and should be made better, I am working hard to get excellent results. I am confident that we who read and speak on the basis of sign language have the ability to achieve the same results as other students. Kushal wants to have a university with facilities for deaf students to study in Nepal. "I want to be able to study up to master's degree in Nepal," he said.

Melina Lama, born in Kathmandu, is another student studying in this deaf school. 17-year-old Melina, who studies in class 10, also has many dreams and plans after graduation. She says that she has a stance of not telling anyone without fulfilling her dreams.

Being a deaf mother of Kendriya, she expresses her happiness that she and deaf students like her can study. But she says she finds it difficult to interact with hearing people who don't understand sign language. Melina says, "Because they don't know sign language, they can't understand what we're saying, and we can't hear and understand them, it's uncomfortable."

Sumana Tamang, who lives in Ramechhap, is 18 years old. Sumana says that she loves sports and wants to make her future in sports. She says, 'I like to participate in sports and I am currently learning judo, I want to make my future in sports.'

Sumana says, 'It may be because of the signs that we study, some mathematics subjects are difficult but no matter how difficult it is, I always try to learn with the help of the teacher. May the government support the deaf students like us, teachers and schools like this, there should be no shortage, everything should be facilitated and our education should not be weakened due to lack.'

Headmaster Upendra Parajuli says that even when teaching students based on hints, the results they bring are very satisfying. He says, 'Students are deaf and disabled but their mental health is very good, their ability to remember is also better than other students. I am very happy when I get good results even after reading based on the indications.'

He believes that students are capable of learning about any subject if the subject is presented in a deaf-friendly manner, even if they are deaf. "It costs a little more because it requires a lot of visual educational material for learning," he says. Because of this, it is difficult to bring accuracy in their writing. If the visual material is sufficient, the learning process can be more easy and quality.

Deaf students who have passed from this school are working as teachers of various subjects in sign language, to employees of five-star hotels in Nepal (Solti, Hilton) and industrial workshops.

English teacher Govind Adhikari says that teachers who teach in other general public schools do not have the same service facilities in schools for the disabled. He says, "Since there are no service facilities like other public schools, skilled sign language teachers tend to go to other places if they get good service, again it is difficult to get sign language teachers, it also takes time for new teachers to become proficient in sign language." This school, which was established in 2023, has been giving students SLC/SEE since 2055.

So far 509 people have passed. Out of the 28 students who participated in the last SEE from Bahira Central High School, 19 were male and 9 female. 19 got 3.2 to 3.6 GPA and 7 got 2.8 to 3.2. There are two with a 2.4 to 2.8 GPA.
