The executive meeting of Kathmandu Metropolitan City, which has not been held for a long time, has been called for Friday. After a clash between mayor Balendra Shah and chief administrative officer Saroj Guragai regarding the issue of map approval, the executive meeting could not be held since last December.
According to the constitutional provision, policies and programs and budget for the new financial year should be brought before June 10th. But due to the controversy in Kathmandu metropolis, policies and programs and budgets have not yet arrived. In order to settle the dispute on Thursday, Mayor Shah, Deputy Mayor Sunita Dangol and executive members agreed to call the executive.
According to the same conclusion Mayor Shah has called a meeting of the Resource Estimation and Delimitation Committee at 11:00 am and the executive meeting at 2:00 pm to determine the ceiling for the policies, programs and budget of the next financial year.
Mayor Shah's press facilitator Surendra Bajgai said that the meeting was called according to the legal procedure. He said that the Chief Administrative Officer should sit/not sit in the meeting. Talking to
Kantipur, Kathmandu Metropolitan City Chief Administrative Officer Guragai said that he will attend the meeting. "Information about the meeting has been received," he said.
Chief Administrative Officer Guragai has been accused of approving the construction map of the Kathmandu Tower building located at the old bus park without environmental testing to make it from 12 storeys to 19 storeys without completing the process. Due to this dispute, the executive committee did not meet since last December.
