Discord has increased within the Congress after the disciplinary committee decided to expel 18 leaders and workers for opposing the official candidate in the election.

The disciplinary committee led by central member Anand Dhungana announced the decision to expel 18 people and suspend and warn 5 people on Wednesday. Ex-ministers, ex-MPs, ex-district chairpersons are among those expelled from the party. Most of them are leaders of other parties in the organization.

Congress leader Shekhar Koirala objected by holding a meeting of other parties on Thursday saying that the committee targeted only the leaders and activists of his party. He said that the disciplinary action was unilateral and against the law. The meeting has decided that Koirala will request Chairman Sher Bahadur Deuba to withdraw the decision to take action and other leaders will increase pressure publicly.

According to the disciplinary committee, it has been decided to expel Tulsi Subba, a member of the general committee of Terathum, former minister of Kaski Kumar Khadka, general minister of Lumbini Vikram Khanal, president of Khotang Bishnu Kumar Rai, regional president of Parsa Arvind Kumar Gupta for 1 year and Anand Yadav of Dhanusha for 6 months from party membership.

Likewise, it has been decided to suspend Khatru Yadav, Rambabu Yadav, Fulgen Yadav of Kaski, Bhavna Shrestha of Kaski, Bhim Bahadur Shah of Kailali, Purnakumar Kunwar, Anandraj Joshi, Rabindra Pratap Singh, Lekhraj Ojha, Subhash Chand, Bablukumar Chaudhary for 6 months and Krishna KC, the outgoing chairman of Kaski, for 3 months. The reasons for the action include non-cooperation against the party candidate through social media, audio/video etc. and the explanation is not satisfactory.

There was an allegation/counter-allegation between Congress leader Koirala and central member Vinod Chaudhary regarding the issue of taking action against Lumbini General Minister Khanal. Koirala demanded an answer from Chairman Deuba saying that Chaudhary was made a central member without fulfilling the qualifications. Chowdhury had taken a dig at Koirala for saying that he had spoken against Khanal to save him from disciplinary action. Khanal is from the other side. He was prosecuted for not helping Chaudhary during the election. After the

committee decided to take action on the basis of minority and majority, it raised controversy. According to the sources, the Chief Minister Gagan Thapa and Vishwa Prakash Sharma are also dissatisfied with the decision of the committee. In the five-member committee led by Dhungana, Ishwari Neupane and Dhruv Wagle are on the establishment side, while Sanjay Gautam and Rajeev Koirala are members of the other side.

member Neupane said that the committee took a decision based on the majority after two members had different opinions. Only ordinary workers were always subject to disciplinary action. There was a situation where he would get immunity after becoming a bigger leader. The committee also had the mandate to take action against all the officials, regardless of the level from the bottom to the top, if there is evidence, Neupane said, "We have decided to expel, suspend and warn them, the video and audio evidence of their non-cooperation in the election is safe." However, other parties of the organization have objected saying that this action is against the party's tradition and constitution. Sanjay Gautam, a member of the other party in the Disciplinary Committee, said that the tradition of not taking action by the committee on the basis of majority and minority vote has been violated. He informed that there is a provision in the law that investigation and action should be completed within 6 months against those who intervened and did not cooperate in the election. The leaders and workers who have been prosecuted by the Congress have been prosecuted for non-cooperation in the 2079 election, against the party's official candidate and interference.

There is a provision in the constitution and rules of the party that action must be completed within 6 months. It is against the law and tradition to expel friends in a way that will decide their political future when it reaches three years now. We do not agree with this. There was a consensus on the work of raising awareness, but in the current challenging times, the work of deciding someone's political future is not only wrong, it is serious, we have a complete disagreement," Gautam said. However, without analyzing the objective situation, it is not justified to take action on the basis of those who are near and far. We will respond openly to this.'

Gururaj Ghimire, a leader close to Koira, claimed that an agreement had been reached between Chairman Sher Bahadur Deuba, General Minister Thapa and Sharma to warn but not take action. Ghimire says that no disciplinary action has been taken on the basis of majority and minority in the history of Congress. "There has been a violation of the party regulations, which requires that the action be completed within 6 months. On the other hand, traditional practice and the agreement between the leadership and the general minister have not been considered," he said. According to him, it is the decision of the other party to pressurize the party chairman Deuba to withdraw the action decision and also create other kinds of pressure.

Disciplinary actions have brought to the surface internal factionalism and disputes within the Congress. According to the leaders of other parties, this decision was taken by the establishment party after looking at the future strategy and leadership of the party. Neupane, who is also a member of the establishment party and a member of the committee, said that since their decision is not final, this issue can also go to the central committee. "This is the final decision of the committee, but it can be appealed to the central committee within 35 days," she said. If you are not satisfied, you have the right to appeal.'
