Three bridges in Mustang were damaged when the flood came from the foot of the Chuamapik mountain

Three bridges have been damaged due to a sudden heavy flood in the Chumjung river (Namdo river) on the Nechung side of the Lomanthang-Korla road section in Lomanthang Rural Municipality-2 Choser, which is bordering China in Mustang. According to Tsi Narbu Gurung, Chairman of Lomanthang Rural Municipality, the flood came from the foot of the Chuamapik Himal in the Mustang Range on the Nepal-China border.

The flood from Chhuamapik foothills above Chhonhup of Lomanthang-4 flows through Chumjung River and flows down to Choser and mixes with Kaligandaki River. The flood has damaged three 'motorable' bridges in Chonhup area. The bridge connecting Korla Naka of Kaligandaki Corridor is also at risk. Gurung, chairman of the rural municipality, speculated that the flood was caused by the bursting of a glacier.

Lomanthang-2 According to Karm Namgyal Gurung, the ward president of Choser, there has been no rain in Lomanthang area for a week. According to Ward President Gurung, even in 2044, a flood caused by the bursting of a glacier at the base of Chuamapik in the Mustang range on the Nepal-China border between Chonghup and Namsung near Choser covered hundreds of plantations. When the same flood mixed with Kaligandaki river, Dana of Myagdi, Tatopani, Pokhrebgar, Tiplyang and also Kalipul market of Beni were flooded.

Lomanthang-2 According to Chief Police Inspector Bishnuhari Thapa of the Armed Police Base Camp in Choser, the flood that occurred suddenly from 5.30 pm along with the flood subsided after an hour. He said that the river suddenly became cloudy and flooded for a while.

Although the water level has risen in Kaligandaki, the flood has not reached Jomsom, the Mustang headquarters, till 9 pm (Gegran). The district administration Mustang said that the danger is decreasing in the lower coastal area as the flood is flowing in the wide and plain area and leaving stones and stones.

'Though the flood in the Chumjung river near Lomanthang has mixed with the Kaligandaki river, it has not reached Jomsom. It seems that the flow of the river has decreased, the surface of the river and its ability to cause damage has gradually weakened,'' said Bishnuprasad Bhusal, the chief district officer of Mustang, 'the risk has decreased because the flood mixed with the Kaligandaki river flowing in the wide plains has left stones.'
