Order to release joint secretary Pariyar on 25,000 bail

The Special Court has ordered that Joint Secretary Pradeep Periyar, who was accused of irregularities in the contract while he was in charge of the chief administrative officer of Kathmandu Metropolitan City, be released on a bond of 25,000 rupees.

The Abuse of Authority Investigation Commission had filed a case against him and 7 people in a special court on May 28. Pariyar, who was suspended after filing the case, appeared in court on Wednesday. His confession and arrestAfter the debate, it was ordered to be released on bail. 

 Similarly, Metropolis employees Basant Acharya and Navraj Dhakal were also sued for playing a role as members of the evaluation committee. Both of them, who appeared in the court along with Pariyar, were ordered to be released on 50,000 rupees each. The bench of special members Tejnarayan Singh, Ram Bahadur Thapa and Ritendra Thapa has ordered to release them on bail. When he was the chief administrative officer of the metropolis, a case was filed against him for causing damage to public property by irregularity in the drainage contract.  Parallel Construction Services Pvt Ltd won the contract for 180.9 million rupees 22 thousand 325 rupees 63 paisa and Kalpavriksha Kohinoor JV won the contract for 224 million rupees 94 thousand 612 rupees 95 paisa. As the chief administrative officer, the Authority had filed a case against the members of the evaluation committee including Pariyar for approving the contract to the one who accepted the higher amount without giving it to the one who accepted the lower amount. 

By Wednesday, 6 people appeared in court. Ravinman Shrestha, Uttam Dahal and Janardan Giri were released on bail of 50,000 each on Tuesday. Now only Shivraj Adhikari is left to appear in the court. The case was filed against Pariyar, who became joint secretary through open competition after 8 years of office, when the government gave him the responsibility of Director General of Information and Broadcasting Department from Kathmandu metropolis. After entering civil service from Nayiv Subba, he was authorized through open competition. Pariyar, one of the youngest joint secretaries in the civil service, was considered the best joint secretary of the civil service.
