Lumbini Pradesh Congress General Minister Vikram Khanal has been expelled by the party. Khanal, who is also a former elected member of the Constituent Assembly from West Nawalparasi, was expelled by the meeting of the Congress Central Disciplinary Committee held on June 17.

According to the Congress, action was taken against Khanal for non-cooperation with the party's official candidates in the State Assembly and the House of Representatives. The coordinator of the committee, Anand Prasad Dhungana, informed the party chairman Sher Bahadur Deuba and the provinces and districts he is related to, that Khanal has been prosecuted.

Khanal filed a complaint for non-cooperation with the party's official candidate in the last parliamentary election and action was taken 3 years after the election. Dhungana has informed that it has been decided to expel Khanal as a party member for 1 year. Khanal Shekhar, who is considered influential in West Nawalparasi, is known as a Koirala supporter.

Central members Vinod Chaudhary and Devendra Kandel from West Nawalparasi are on one side, while Bikram Khanal along with the majority workers at the local level are divided on the other side. In the last parliamentary election, after Vinod Chaudhary became a candidate from the Congress, the Bikram Khanal party, which is considered influential in the district, was dissatisfied. Khanal was elected from the Congress in the first Constituent Assembly election.
