CPN (UML) MP Kiran Kumar Sah has proposed that the process of impeachment should be started immediately against the judges who overturned the verdict of life imprisonment of Aftab Alam, who was found guilty in the heinous incident of being burnt alive in a brick kiln in Rautahat.
He made such a demand while speaking at the meeting of the House of Representatives. 'Aftab Alam, who was found guilty in the heinous incident of being burnt alive in a brick kiln in Rautahat, was acquitted by the Birganj office of the High Court Janakpur. The decision was made by reversing the decision of the district court on life imprisonment. "Now, in the public and in the media, the verdict is being interpreted as a result of political patronage," he said.
He demanded that if the government really wants an independent judiciary and if it wants to prove that there is no political patronage, the process of impeachment should be started immediately against the judges of the High Court, Khushiram Tharu and Arjun Maharjan, who delivered the verdict.
He added, 'This is a serious crime against democracy and justice system. The decision is now being interpreted in the media and the public as a result of political patronage. If the government really wants an independent judiciary and wants to prove that there is no political patronage, then the impeachment process should be initiated against the High Court judges who delivered the verdict. If such a step is not taken, it is understood that the coalition government has acquitted Alam.'
He has also asked to immediately stop the appointment of judges in political parties.
