The National Forensic Science Laboratory (Establishment and Operation) Bill 2081 was discussed today in the Legislation Management Committee of the National Assembly.

In the discussion, Minister of Education, Science and Technology Raghuji Pant emphasized that the government should operate the laboratory and said that the government should pay attention to providing resources to the laboratory. He emphasized that the results of the tests conducted in the laboratory should be made in such a way that they are not biased.

Minister Pant said that the laboratory should be strengthened legally. Committee Chairperson Tulsakumari Dahal informed that the bill will be amended and passed within this month. Birendra Raj Shakya, Acting Executive Director of

laboratory, held the view that the law should be strengthened to arrange for rapid testing by the laboratory as crimes are increasing.

committee members Suresh Ale Magar, Dr. Veduram Bhusal, Bhagwati Neupane and others said that the laboratory should be made reliable and research-oriented.
