Butwal's young businessman and social activist  Gayre announced his first candidacy at a press conference on Sunday. He said that he is going to run as a candidate as he thinks he is qualified for that, as the distaste for big political parties has increased and the people are looking for honest, independent and young candidates. He clarified that he is not yet affiliated to any political party.

Since there is a majority of Madhesh-centric parties, LOSPA, Janmat, Civil Liberation and JSP Nepal are trying to raise a common candidate. Civil Immunity is trying to get a common candidate and if it doesn't get a separate candidate.

Supporters of Balen Shah, mayor of Kathmandu from the Independent, are also rumored to be candidates. However, it has not been decided who will rise.
