Agriculture and Livestock Development Minister Ramnath Adhikari has said that due to the difficult provisions in the Public Procurement Act, there is a delay in the fertilizer distribution process.
In the meeting of the Industry and Commerce and Labor and Consumer Welfare Committee under the House of Representatives, the minister said that it will take 227 days for the mall to arrive since the tender process of the difficult and complicated system in the law was started.
He says that because it takes months to distribute imported fertilizer, the problem of not getting fertilizer to the farmers on time is being created. The ministerial official said that after the import of fertilizer, it has been agreed with the Ministry of Finance that it should be stored in warehouses for more than 15 days. Our Public Procurement Act has made it very difficult. The mall will arrive in 227 days from the start of the tender. And after the arrival of the goods, it would take months to distribute them. Paddy is usually produced in 120 days except for the mountains, he said.
We have reached an agreement with the Ministry of Finance to facilitate the distribution of fertilizers, according to the minister's official. Farmers complain that fertilizer could not be supplied on time, the minister is useless, and the government is useless. Therefore, there should be an in-depth discussion on how to make fertilizer distribution easier,' he said.
There is no timely supply of chemical fertilizers and also for food security, he also urges farmers to promote the use of organic fertilizers.
