A family was named in Ramprasad Rai rural municipality-2 Dhodlekhani of Bhojpur on Saturday midnight. Due to the anger of his own son-in-law, Rajendra Rai, four members of the same family have died. 30-year-old Rajendra of Bhojpur Municipality-2 Helaucha killed his wife, father-in-law, mother-in-law and sister-in-law.
Rai killed 68-year-old Bel Bahadur Giri (father-in-law), 45-year-old Manju Giri (mother-in-law), 9-year-old Sapan Giri (sister-in-law) and wife 17-year-old Manisha Giri. The police arrested Rai, who was involved in the murder, and proceeded with the investigation.
The village is in mourning after the incident. The incident site is about 32 km away from Bhojpur headquarters. Due to the dirt road, there was also a problem in bringing dead bodies. On Sunday, the police picked up the dead body and sent it to Dharan for post-mortem.
Chief District Officer Suresh Panthi said that BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences, located in Dharan, was sent to the Dharan-based BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences after the post-mortem could not be conducted at the district hospital. Their post-mortem will be done only on Monday.
Chief District Officer Panthi said that there was a family dispute behind the murder. "Rai has confessed to the murder. But we are in a subtle investigation, some secrets are yet to be revealed,” he said. Rajendra was a construction worker. He is a person of normal economic background living in Bhojpur headquarters.
Rajendra and Manisha got married about nine months ago. Their relationship, which started with love, ended with the murder of the family. In the eyes of society and family, their inter-caste marriage was not easily accepted.
The police say that rejection has finally turned into violence. Rajendra was staying with his in-laws for a few days. He was preparing to return home with his wife. But the in-laws did not agree. Rajendra will take Manisha anyway, and later on Saturday night, the controversy flared up. The in-laws side tried to stop Rajendra. Regarding the
incident, Kosi State Police Chief DIG Ishwar Karki said that after the in-laws attacked them with a knife, Rajendra took the same knife and killed the four people. He said, "Inter-caste marriage and subsequent family rejection seems to be the main reason for reaching a criminal decision like murder."
After the murder, Rajendra, who was covered in blood, himself called the police control and said, "I have killed a person, come to get me". He was deeply stabbed in the stomach. He has given a statement to the police that his in-laws stabbed him. When he reached the scene, he was found seriously injured.
According to Police Inspector Deepak Shrestha of the District Police Office, Rajendra was found injured in a place called Hurbubhanjyang of the same Rural Municipality-1. "He was found with sharp weapon injuries in three places on his stomach," he said, "Then we brought him to Bhojpur District Hospital for treatment."
Now Rajendra has been taken to BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences in Dharan for treatment. His condition is critical. "During the initial investigation, it appears that the murder took place after a dispute between Rajendra and the in-laws who went to get his wife," police inspector Shrestha said.
Rajendra said that his mother-in-law attacked him with a knife and then snatched it and killed everyone.
