One-way traffic has been operated due to the drying up of the mud on the southern road section under the East-West Highway. After the mud on the highway dried up, traffic resumed a few moments ago after removing the stuck vehicle near the Vishwakarma temple in Daune.
In order to avoid traffic jam, the police have stopped the trucks traveling from Narayangarh towards Butwal since morning at Rajhar, about 40 km. According to the police, all vehicles had to be stopped at Rajaharmai and Ritta La to avoid a long traffic jam.
It is said that the stopped cars will be sent after the traffic jam of Daunne has subsided. As soon as it rains, vehicles get stuck on the highway and the traffic is operated only after it dries up.
The Chinese contractor company China State Engineering Corporation, which got the contract to upgrade the highway, has not taken any initiative to open the highway even though hundreds of vehicles traveling east-west on the highway were stuck in the traffic jam.
Near the Vishwakarma temple in Daunne, there is a long traffic jam every day due to the fact that goods vehicles get stuck during normal rains. The contractor company that is working on the highway upgrading seems to be oblivious.
