This year, 184 metric tons of litchi have been produced in Rawabesi Rural Municipality of Khotang. According to Uddhav Bastol, head of the agriculture branch of the rural municipality, when calculated at 52 rupees per kg, more than 95 lakh 68 thousand rupees have been received.
The most ward no. 88 metric tons of litchi have been produced in 1 kuvinde. Bastola said that 11 hectares of litchi are produced in that ward. Similarly, ward no. 2 Kharpama 24 Metri cut not , No. 3 is 16 in Lamidanda, No. 4 is 16 in Dharapani, No. 5 is 8 in Duwekol and No. 6 is 32 in Honchur Bastola informed that the was not a but a was produced.
Prem Bahadur Magar of Kuvinde says that he earned 30,000 this year from lychees of two plants. "Now I am planning to focus on lychee cultivation, lychee does not need much care," he said.
Khadgaprasad Regmi of Kuvinde also said that this year he earned 45,000 from litchi grown on one plant. The contractor gave 45,000 on the boat itself, he said.
Rawabasi produces the most lychee in the district. Apart from Lichi district here, it reaches the capital and Terai cities. Kubinde Ward President Gehendraman Rai said that contractors who come from different districts buy lychees produced by farmers at the rate of one rupee per plant. The farmers here have reserved the vehicle and taken it to Diktel Bazar, Halesi and other places and sell it for 100 to 150 rupees per kg.
Village chief Fatik Kumar Shrestha said that the 17th village assembly held on June 10 passed the policy and program to develop Rawabesi rural municipality as a litchi 'hub'.
