CPN (Maoist Center) MP Sudan Kiranti said that air service is the country's diplomacy and the country's image.
Speaking at the International Relations and Tourism Committee meeting held on Friday, he expressed this opinion. In the meeting, there was a theoretical discussion on the Nepal Civil Aviation Authority Bill, 2081. Speaking on the matter, MP Kiranti said that the bill is very important for effective service and development of Nepal Civil Aviation.
Referring to the situation where Nepal is blacklisted by the European Union, he said that the message that Nepal is a country that does not work is spreading at the international level. Kiranti clarified that the blacklist has directly affected the Nepal Airlines Corporation and other private airlines do not have aircraft for international flights.
He said, 'Air service is the country's diplomacy and the country's image. Now this bill is very necessary for effective services and development. But we have passed more than 12 years, this bill is still not finished. Nepal has been blacklisted by the European Union. It has a direct impact on Nepal Airlines Corporation. Others have no ships. Foreign ships are not stopped, only Nepal flag carriers are stopped. Himalayan does not have that ship. So much damage is being done. The message that Nepal is a country that does not work is spreading internationally.'
MP Kiranti also opined that the bill should not be flawed in a hurry to pass it.
