The district court of Kathmandu has ordered the release of journalist Dilbhushan Pathak on bail of 25,000. The bench of Judge Khemraj Bhatt has ordered to release Pathak on bail.

Pathak appeared in the court on Thursday after the cyber bureau of the police prosecuted the case in the case of cyber crime. His case was debated behind closed doors today. District Public Prosecutor's Office Kathmandu filed a case against Pathak on Monday based on a complaint lodged with Cyber Bureau under a changed name.

In the indictment filed by Assistant District Attorney Purnendra Pandey on behalf of the public prosecutor, section 47 of the Electronic Transactions Act, 2063, for the offense of publishing illegal matter in electronic form, a fine of up to one lakh rupees or imprisonment for up to five years or both was demanded. Pathak was also listed as a fugitive by the public prosecutor's office.

Journalist Pathak, through his program 'Tough Talk', presented a video material titled 'Jayveer Deuba's money in Hilton' about Jayveer Singh Deuba's involvement in the purchase and sale of shares of Hilton Hotel.

Jayveer had filed a complaint with the Cyber Bureau earlier saying that Pathak had committed character assassination on this issue. But the Patan High Court ordered not to arrest journalist Dilbhushan Pathak. Jayveer is the son of Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba and Foreign Minister Arju Rana Deuba.
