Savina Chepang Praja, who came from Kathmandu to her home in Gajuri, was busy paying her respects on Thursday. Dhading Gajuri rural municipality-1 house honored her by the rural municipality itself. Savina got excellent results in the Secondary Education Examination (SEE) which was announced recently. She studied in Kathmandu and got four GPA.

Chepang leaders say that Savina is the first person from Chepang, a tribal community belonging to the marginalized category, to get four GPA.

Savina, daughter of Sant Bahadur Praja Chepang and Gyanumaya Chepang, studied class 1 and 2 in the village school. In class 1, the results were not good at first. The teachers suggested to read it again. Sant Bahadur placed his daughter in class 1. The following year, the daughter stood first in her class. Then she became first in class 2 as well. Parents were happy to see him doing well in studies. Another concern was also added - there was no school in the village after class 3. I had to go for an hour.

Sant Bahadur saw that his studies were deteriorating when he went away from home. As the school was far away, the children used to drop out in the middle of their studies. Sister Gita Praja Chepang gave relief to Sant Bahadur who was worried. Sant Bahadur's sister Geeta was helping in a house in Kathmandu. Geeta also expressed her intention to take her brother's daughter Savina to Kathmandu. She had received permission from the landlord. After getting first place in the class 2 exam and passing, Savina went to Kathmandu with Fupu.

Living in Vishalnagar, Kathmandu, she studied at Panchkanya Basic School (then Nimavi). The school decided not to admit him in class 3. The school was of the opinion that it should be studied from the beginning. Savina loved to read. She left home and came to the city. She did not intend to go back again. Anyway, she started her studies from class 1 in Kathmandu. She studied in the same school till class 8. She joined Shivpuri High School in class 9. Study was good. The SEE exam was also good.

'As expected, the result has been good. Everyone is happy at home. It is only home and my village is happy. The school family is also very happy," said Savina. Savina said that she studied computer subjects in classes 11 and 12. He says that he has not yet decided what to study after class 12. She said that she did not receive tuition or coaching except for the regular study of the class and the preparation to be done after coming home. She said that now she has planned to complete her studies till class 12 and will think about the rest after that.

Central President of Nepal Chepang Association Govindram Chepang said that Savina is the first student from Chepang community to pass SEE by bringing four GPAs. Chepangs are a tribal community living in the hilly areas of Chitwan, Makwanpur, Dhading and Gorkha districts. According to Govindram, the literacy rate is very low in the Chepang community, which has a population of 83,364. Recently, the number of Chepang students who pass SEE, class 11 and 12 and graduate is increasing. Post-graduates are insignificant. Govindram said, "There is no reading before that".

'Doctors and engineers have not been made. "We have become very hopeful after good results started coming in SEE," said Chepang Association President Govindram, who is also a member of the Constituent Assembly. He informed that he recently met with the Minister of Education and requested the state to increase investment for the Chepang community in higher education. Govindram says that the government should support the students who have done well in their studies as many people in the Chepang community live in financial poverty.
