Clarification of the pattern of raising ethical questions on the party president

The United Samajwadi Party has asked standing committee member Ram Kumari Jhankri for an explanation regarding the non-relinquishment of party president Madhav Kumar Nepal, who has been indicted in the Patanjali Yogpeeth land irregularity case. Balchandra Mishra, chairman of the Disciplinary Commission of the United Socialist Party, has written a letter to Jhankri on Tuesday to provide an explanation within three days.

The Abuse of Authority Investigation Commission filed a case against the former Prime Minister of Nepal in a special court on 22nd of June on the charge of giving permission to illegally buy and sell demarcated land. After the arrest debate, President Nepal was released after paying the bail of 35 lakh rupees set by the court.

Standing committee member Jhankri said that the party cannot ignore the issue as the issue is personal in a program held in Butwal on Sunday. "Now you can't walk with a dead body on your shoulder," he said, "Let's hold an early convention." Let's choose leadership from the hall. If not, you will not form this party if you are going to form this party by contesting the election from the central committee that was created by moving the voter list.'' The Samajwadi Central Office staff reached Jhankri's house in Buddhanagar and handed over the explanation letter. Netru Jhankri responded to make her opinion public after giving an explanation. I will answer first. Then I will make my statement public," she said.

Since there is a personal case against President Nepal, Jhankri has been saying that the party should not be involved in it. "The case was filed not because of the party chairman, but because of the decision made when he was the prime minister. He is responding to this personally. When the party joins, the movement is weakened,' she told the party leaders, 'I have raised my voice against the trend that everyone is corrupt except myself.'

After Jhankri's statement in Butwal, General Secretary Ghanshyam Bhusal issued a statement and instructed President Nepal not to speak about the case.

It is well known that the party's initial opinion was clarified through a statement on 22nd of June regarding the case filed by the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority against party president Comrade Madhav Kumar Nepal in the special court. The other necessary decision on how to deal with this situation has to be made by the party institutionally," the statement issued by General Secretary Bhusal said, "Therefore, the party central office draws the attention of all comrades not to say or write anything that contradicts the official opinion of the party. Also, he urges everyone to make sure that there is a method and a place to express their views in the party and not to engage in public arguments/counter-arguments under any pretext.

Jhalnath Khanal, a respected leader of the United Socialist Party, said that the issue asked for clarification will be discussed in the secretariat meeting on Wednesday. "A lot of things will be clear after the answer to the clarification," he said. "The Commission has the right to ask the concerned person for an explanation, take a statement and recommend action," he said.

In August 2078, the photo of Jhankri holding Nepali's hand and leading him to the Election Commission for registration of a new party after leaving UML became viral. While Nepal continued to hold the presidency from the convention held in June last year, Jhankri was defeated in the position of female vice-president.

Two strands in the unified socialist

There are two strands within the unified socialist regarding whether the corruption case against President Nepal is personal or party related. Respected leader Khanal, a member of the Standing Committee, Jhankri, has expressed his displeasure for joining the United Socialist Party in the land embezzlement case when he was the Prime Minister of Nepal in 2066/067. They say that making the issue party-related will affect the 'good governance and employment, preparation for socialism' movement that the party is about to start.

President Nepal's respected leader Khanal also accepted that there were two opinions within the party regarding corruption cases. "Since the issue of corruption is a serious matter, it is natural that moral questions arise," he said,   "There are two sides to the issue of whether or not the president should resign." This is being discussed in the secretariat meeting.'

Permanent committee member Jhankri mentioned that in the past, UML leaders have faced various issues and said that the party should not be involved in such issues. He says that he personally presented the political case against the royal regime and before that.

After the case was filed on 22nd of June, the President of Nepal has been suspended as a member of the House of Representatives. After losing two places in the first Constituent Assembly election of 2064, Nepal resigned from the post of General Secretary of UML on moral grounds.

This year, even after being accused of corruption, he was expected to leave the post of president until the case was settled, inside and outside the party. But despite being suspended from the post of MP, he has not left the post of president. Instead, he has secured a 'majority' in the party so as not to leave the post of chairman. The leaders of the Nepal side say that the government has taken revenge by filing a case against President Nepal in the Patanjali land case and the party should respond to it. The party has already decided to counter.
