CPN (UML) MP Rajendra Kumar Rai has demanded the resignation of Ramhari Khatiwada, Chairman of the State Order and Good Governance Committee under the House of Representatives.

Speaking at the meeting of the committee on Wednesday, he demanded the resignation of committee chairman Khatiwada and committee secretary Suraj Kumar Dura. Raising the issue of 'cooling off period', he said that committee meetings cannot be conducted under the leadership of the committee chairman and secretary.

Member of Parliament Rai said that no one has the authority to falsify matters decided and sent by the committee, the chairman or the secretary. He opined that no official has the right to insult the representatives elected by the people.

He said, 'Is it appropriate for our chairman to sit in that chair in this meeting or not? Because this committee was sovereign. Members were insulted by misrepresenting that the committee had taken such a decision. What do people say today? A serious question has been raised. Who gave you the right to overrule the decisions we made? I want to say to the Speaker—you must leave. you couldn't You do not have the right to overrule the decisions made by so many members, to cheat, to insult Yatra representatives elected by the people.'

MP Rai demanded that the Chairman himself should create an environment in which the committee meeting can proceed smoothly.
