Congress leader Shekhar Koirala has said that party president Sher Bahadur Deuba should answer the question about where the constitutional amendment work has reached. He has asked, 'Where did the issue of constitutional amendment written with the seven-point agreement end up?'
Speaking at the party's central committee meeting held today, he said that Congress-UML coalition government should be formed, but he also asked why the leadership of power was given to UML .
In the central committee meeting, Koirala has raised some other tricky questions. He said that if there should be a convention in November or not, the chairman and office bearers should give a satisfactory answer.
Koirala has also raised some questions with the party's disciplinary committee. He said, 'In the meeting of the disciplinary committee, the party president said that Shekhar Koirala raised Dinesh Koirala in Chitwan, why should Shekhar not be punished? On what basis was that said ? Chairman, I want an answer to this.' He said that the disciplinary committee is weak and accused that the committee could not even cut the letter on the recommendation for action.
Koirala has also questioned the decisions taken by the party in the past. He said, 'Was Vinod Chaudhary qualified to become a central member or not? See that ? The 10-year period of action was enough.
He has also asked whether a person who has been found guilty by the Supreme Court can sit in the position of district chairman in Sarlahi. He said, 'Why is he not removed ? Do the president and office bearers understand how much damage has been done to the Congress by this incident?'
Sarlahi District President of Congress Surendra Prasad Singh was accused of financial irregularities while he was the chairman of a water user committee. Last December, the leaders and workers of Congress Sarlahi staged a sit-in at the Congress party office in Sanepa, demanding that Singh be dismissed from being an ordinary member of the party. They demanded dismissal saying that the crime of financial irregularities has been proven by the Supreme Court.
