Education, Science and Technology Minister Raghuji Pant has said that the private sector should also be given space in education. He said that schools should be opened in the private sector to educate the children of the poor.
In the Friday meeting of the Education, Health and Information Technology Committee of the House of Representatives on the School Education Bill, Minister Pant said that schools should be opened for those who think they will study by paying expensive money.
Mentioning that there were no good private schools in Nepal in the past, Pant went to different parts of India and said that the private sector should be allowed to enter education.
'If we cannot provide an alternative to those who spend money to study, capital will also go out, human will also go out . What has the state withdrawn from compulsory and free education? No, not removed . State compulsory and free education is for those who need it. The state should be available for those who need it,' Pant said, 'You cannot stop those who come to study in government schools, even the sons of billionaires come to study in public schools. It is open to them too.'
Minister Pant said that private schools should be allowed to go to Guthi . 'If private schools go to Guthi, let's give them a discount . Let's focus the state's investment and attention on public education. The state's attention should be focused on how to create quality,' he said.
Wherever the private sector enters to make profit, Pant said that profit should not be taken too much. He opined that because the private sector will take a loan from the bank to invest in education, they should not take too much profit for that.
Minister Pant said that the state is not in favor of banning the private sector. He was of the opinion that the state should take action to improve the quality of public education.
