Former Finance Minister and Deputy General Secretary of the Maoist Center Janardan Sharma has said that only grants that can be invested free from political interference should be taken. He warned that problems would arise when the government intervened in policy and took grants randomly.
Speaking at a program held in Kathmandu on Wednesday, he said that Nepal invests in policy rather than investing in money. He says that most of the subsidies taken by the government come in the form of policy interventions, so Nepal has not been able to develop as it was supposed to.
He said that the country was not able to run according to the needs of the country due to not being able to invest as he said. He said that it is important to accept the aid in the question of nationalism and sovereignty. He said that it is necessary to accept only things that will help long-term economic development.
Former finance minister Sharma said, 'Our investment is not in money, but in policy. It comes as a policy intervention. We are not free. It is not something that we can invest as we said. If we make a decision to protect our country's economy in the needs of our country, we will take funds that can be invested freely free from so much pressure, so much interference, and political interference. But everything is tied. There are policy issues that should lead us to be free from the situation of not being able to use what we have.'
Former finance minister Sharma said that if he is unable to operate in his own way, he will not be able to do it and if he will get into more problems than improving the situation of Nepal, those things are not necessary.
