2 Nepali citizens who were rescued from Iran have arrived in New Delhi, the capital of India. At the request of Nepal government, India has rescued Nepali citizens along with its own citizens.
According to the Nepali Embassy in New Delhi, Ganesh Prasad Pokharel and Suman Gayre arrived in New Delhi on Tuesday afternoon. The embassy and the Indian Ministry of External Affairs 'received' them at the airport. According to the embassy, both of them have already flown to Kathmandu. The embassy also says that both of them are from Butwal.
As 11 Nepalis are about to come to Nepal from Iran, two people have been rescued in the first phase. Everyone has already reached Masad from Tehran on Sunday night. Nepalis in Iran were working in various embassies and Iranian restaurants.
The embassy has also thanked the Indian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Indian Embassy in Tehran for their support. According to Randhir Jaiswal, spokesperson of the Indian Ministry of External Affairs, 281 Indians, 3 Sri Lankans and 2 Nepalis were rescued from Iran's Masad by a special plane. The plane landed in Delhi at 3 pm Indian time. Indian Minister of State for External Affairs Pabitra Margherita reached the airport to welcome all the rescued people.
Through the rescue operation named 'Operation Sindhu', India has so far brought 2,576 Indian citizens home.
