Minister Pradeep Yadav has asked the parliamentarians to play a role in managing the budget in the Ministry of Water Supply and Sanitation. While answering the questions raised by MPs during the discussion on the Ministry's allocation on Monday, Minister Yadav said that MPs will also have a role in managing the water supply budget.

Minister Yadav said that the budget should be arranged for drinking water, which is directly related to the health of the people. It is also necessary to prioritize the water and sanitation sector, which has a direct impact on all sectors including education and health, and to manage the necessary resources including adequate budget and manpower. What will we do if there is no budget?', he said, 'We don't need a lot of money, but if we have a lot of work, there will be a lot of work. What will happen if there is no delay? The parliamentarians also had to insist, they had to arrange for drinking water.'

Minister Yadav said that the government is also serious about the drying up of water resources due to climate change and weather changes. "In the context of drinking water sources drying up and the water level also decreasing, it is very important to protect the source and watershed for sustainable drinking water, so we have focused on this," he said.

Minister Yadav said that studies are being conducted for the long-term operation of reservoir water supply, wholesale distribution system and other projects. He said, 'Water supply projects are being developed in large urban, semi-urban and small urban areas,' he said, 'Currently, all the projects implemented under the ministry are distributing only treated water. We believe that we will be able to achieve sustainable development goals by the year 2030 as treated water will be available from many projects run by the province.

Minister Yadav also said that the government is serious about managing safe drinking water in Kathmandu. He said that there are 15 water supply offices in the country and those offices are looking after 77 districts.
